Hokkaido, the northernmost of Japan’s main islands, is known for its volcanoes, natural hot springs (onsen) and ski areas. Remote, rugged and so picturesque, Hokkaido stimulates all the senses with the natural environment. Hokkaido's winter season gets upwards of 30 feet of snow.
